Fiacha's Roost

Home of all things Fiacha

So, what's a fiacha you ask? First of all it's pronounced FEEK-ay, not fee-AH-cha, although some would disagree. Fiacha is an Irish word which means raven. Fiacha Suileach is the name I chose back in my Society for Creative Anachronism days. Once upon a time I was the Seneschal of the College of Saint Golias. In order for to make it easy for people to find me, my email account at school was fiacha. Eventually, so many people came to know me by this pseudonym, it has become convenient to keep it around.

To see more about my SCA persona, follow this link. Not much there, but I haven't exactly been active of late.

My Internet domain is Ravensrook. My company is Yddrasil Consulting Services. YCS is a consulting firm for all sorts of computing services and technical editing. My resume can be viewed online (requires frames). I also have an IE specific version here.

Ravens are cool. Crows and ravens appear throughout mythology. Odin had two: huginn and muninn (thought and memory) who flew around the earth each and reported back to him events in the world. The Irish war goddess Morrigan often apepared in the form of a crow or raven. Raven was an important deity among the Native Americans. The Yggdrasil is the Norse world tree upon which Odin sacrificed himself to gain knowledge and wisdom. As you might guess, I have an interest in mythology. I think that Joeseph Campbell was one of great minds of our age.
